Contrary to what it might’ve seemed like I believe in my previous entry, I have absolutely the best husband in the world. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for me if I asked him to, except maybe kill someone, but that’s not something I’d ever expect to ask of another human being 😉
My husband is multi-talented. When I met him, he owned and ran two businesses – one in IT and one in Law. Although he does not currently hold a practising certificate, it is still very handy to be married to a lawyer, particularly when I have questions relating to intellectual property (which can be quite frequently for me, being both a web developer and filmmaker). And if there’s something I don’t know how to do but want help with in just about any given field, Jeremy will help out.
I am currently in the process of finally finishing off my GradDip film Journey so I can get another copy to my (ex-)supervisor. I had mainly been waiting on the score for the last year and a half, but as I felt like I could no longer rely on the composer I had, I opted for an alternative solution. Some music was donated by a musician I’ve never met but who knows my husband, but the rest of the score is either being composed by Jeremy, or selected by Jeremy by finding music released under creative commons licenses.
So although I have my feet in different pools of interest, Jeremy has his in even more. I do hope that once he’s finished his PhD (that’s right, I’m married to a lawyer who is almost a doctor – apparently every girl’s dream is to marry one or the other, and I have both in the same man), he’ll have more time on his hands to teach me to play the keyboard and remember how (he did briefly teach me to know how to play Darth Vader’s theme and A Whole New World from Disney’s Aladdin last year, but that memory was short lived and I can’t do it any more).
It’s absolutely amazing being married to a man that will help me will all facets of my filmmaking interest. I automatically have a leading actor, supervising editor (sound and video), script consultant, camera operator and composer whenever I need one. He even has a legals credit for Journey, having drafted the actor’s release forms and advised me on copyright.
Not only do I have someone so experienced and talented in many areas, but also someone who is clearly a devoted husband and father, and cares about me so deeply and isn’t afraid to show it. I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do with myself when he returns to full time work. All I’ve ever known is to experience his presence almost every single hour of every day I’ve known him.
All I can hope for is a continuation of the love I receive from him until either of us dies.
